Jersey Festival of Words is delighted to announce our new festival patron, writer Cathy Rentzenbrink.
Having first featured at the festival in 2016 to discuss her memoir The Last Act of Love, Cathy has remained a friend and supporter of the festival ever since, returning to the island in subsequent years to interview many of the literary stars appearing at various events.
‘I fell in love with Jersey the first time I came to the festival,’ says Cathy, ‘and every year since that bond has strengthened. I am delighted and honoured to be a patron and am already looking forward to being back on the island again.’
Acclaimed author of The Last Act of Love and A Manual For Heartbreak, Cathy speaks and writes regularly on life, love and literature on TV, radio and in print, and presents The Bookseller podcast.
‘There is no-one I know who better combines a love of books with a profound knowledge about where books come from and how they get into the hands of readers,’ says Philip Jones, editor of The Bookseller. ‘Her love of the well-told tale is infectious, her advocacy around literacy and the love of reading hugely important. But really it is the fact that books made her and then re-made her that makes her such an honest broker in the bookish bazaar.’
We look forward to seeing Cathy when she returns to Jersey this September, where she will be interviewing Sir Robin Knox-Johnstone, Leah Hazard and Graham Farmelo, as well as enjoying the festival with the rest of us!
