Health food guru and social media sensation Deliciously Ella will bring her latest cookbook, Deliciously Ella with Friends, to this year’s Jersey Festival of Words.
In the follow-up to her bestseller Deliciously Ella Every Day, Ella makes it easy to prepare delicious healthy food, whatever the occasion. Whether a laid-back brunch, a last-minute lunch or a fancy supper, Ella has it covered with wonderful hearty and filling recipes that celebrate her eating philosophy.
With a social media following in the millions, Ella Mills is the creator of must-read food blog, www.deliciouslyella.com, which has taken the cookery world by storm since its launch in 2013. Her first book, Deliciously Ella was published in 2015, becoming the UK’s biggest selling debut cookbook selling more than 300,000 copies since publication; it was followed by the bestselling Deliciously Ella Every Day which has sold 145,000 copies. Both books entered the charts at No 1. Ella launched the MaE Deli in Marylebone, London with her husband Matthew at the end of 2015, and two more delis have followed. She also launched a new line of products in association with Neal’s Yard Remedies as well as her own Deliciously Ella energy balls in 2016.
Ella discovered her passion for plant-based recipes after being diagnosed with a rare illness called Postural Tachycardia Syndrome (PoTS). She couldn’t walk down the street, slept for 16 hours a day and was in chronic pain most of the time. Conventional medicine failed to help her, so she decided to completely overhaul her diet and overnight the self-confessed ‘sugar- monster’ gave up meat, gluten, dairy, sugar and all processed food. The results were incredible. Though initially far from confident in the kitchen, Ella started blogging about her new approach to food and posting recipes, and quickly amassed a huge online following.
Explaining her approach, Ella said, ‘Deliciously Ella is all about natural food. It’s not about diet or deprivation, but about celebrating what you can do with simple, unprocessed ingredients. There’s no one size fits all and everything I do can be adapted to suit anyone. I like to eat foods that I love, that satisfy me and that help me feel the best that I can so that I can be the best that I can – it’s really as simple as that!’.
Ella will appear at Jersey Opera House on Thursday 28th September at 8pm. Tickets can be bought from Jersey Opera House box office, by calling 511115 or online at www.jerseyoperahouse.co.uk.
