Ana Sampson

Join local poet Traci O’Dea in-conversation with acclaimed anthologist Ana Sampson. This poignant collection of raw and captivating poems explores the journey of motherhood, from pregnancy to empty nests. Celebrated for her poetry anthologies, Ana's expertise shines through as she captures the mess, madness, joy, and wonder of motherhood, with gems from established poets Carol Ann Duffy and Sylvia Plath and new emerging talents Kate Baer and Liz Berry.

‘I read every single poem and wished that I'd had this book when I was pregnant, and feeding a baby, and watching her grow. I longed for such a book of observations on what it is to make a human.’ Sophie Heawood

Ana has been editing poetry anthologies since 2009, when I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud and Other Poems you Half-Remember from School was the third bestselling poetry title that year. More recently she has edited two volumes of poetry by women, She is Fierce and She Will Soar, as well as Wonder: The Natural History Museum Poetry Book. She has contributed articles to newspapers and magazines, and talked about poetry and publishing at literary festivals, bookshop events, at libraries and in schools.
