Gutters to Stars – Writing Workshop

  • 16 New Street

  • £ 25

  • Thursday 24 September

    14:30 - 16:30

In this friendly and encouraging workshop, we will explore writing as a way of being with yourself when life feels difficult, while keeping sight of what lifts and nourishes. We’ll use simple, private exercises to be on the page without pressure or performance. Writing can offer a place to think, to rest, to notice, and to make sense of experience. This workshop invites you to use writing as an ally: we might be in the gutter, but the trick is to keep our eye on the stars.

Max 15 attendees

Cathy Rentzenbrink is known for her thoughtful, candid writing on grief, recovery, and the solace of reading. She first gained wide recognition with The Last Act of Love (2015), a memoir about her brother’s catastrophic brain injury and its lasting impact on her family. Before becoming a full-time author, she worked as a bookseller and later in journalism. Her other books, including A Manual for Heartache and Dear Reader, continue to explore loss and the healing power of literature. Alongside her writing, she has been involved in literacy initiatives and literary events, and she lives in Cornwall with her family. Cathy is a patron of Jersey Festival of Words.
