For Schools
Welcome to the Jersey Festival of Word’s schools programme! This year we’re delighted to be welcoming authors Helen Rutter, Tom Vaughn, Kate Pankhurst, Sarah Underwood, Tia Fisher and Patrick Kane to Jersey to inspire, enthuse and entertain students from Key Stages 1-5. The schools programme has been kindly supported by the Roy Overland Charitable Trust.

We’re delighted to offer a range of events for students across the Island. This year, in order to be truly equitable, we have reserved a number of tickets for each primary school, so that every school gets the chance to attend at least one of the author events held at the Freedom Centre. We have also reserved a number of tickets for home-school students.
Each primary school will have received an email from us letting you know the details of your reserved tickets and how to confirm the allotted spaces. The firm cut-off date for confirmation was Wednesday, 28th May. Remaining tickets have been put out for general release and it is now possible to request further tickets for your students to attend events – the allocation is now on a first-come-first-served basis. For ticket requests please email [email protected]
The secondary school events are taking place at Jersey College for Girls. They are open to all schools and spaces can be reserved by emailing [email protected]
Please remember to include the number of teachers accompanying students in your request.
All Freedom Centre performances are one hour long, with an author book signing afterwards (please arrange coach pick-up time to allow for this – approximately 20-30 minutes). A hearing induction loop will be available, with assistance for any visually impaired attendees.
We encourage schools to organise book purchases for their students where possible, either before the event or on the day (further details to follow). As well as encouraging reading and providing the children with a signed memento of their day, strong book sales help us attract authors to the Island for subsequent festivals!
