From sea to summit, Jessica Hepburn tells tales from her new book Save Me From the Waves, which charts her journey of survival, endurance and personal growth. An unlikely athlete, Hepburn hates exercise, only discovering its assets when she she finds herself heartbroken and in her forties. Now, she is the first and only woman to have completed the ‘Sea, Street, Summit’ challenge (swim the English channel, run the London Marathon and climb Mount Everest) in the world. With only Desert Island Discs to keep her company, Hepburn consumed over 3,000 episodes during her challenge … perhaps another record that she may well hold (although this can’t be confirmed). Jersey resident Eric Blakeley, fellow Channel swimmer and Everest climber, will be in conversation with Hepburn. Join us for an event which promises to be both inspiring and thoroughly entertaining.
Jessica Hepburn is an award-winning author, arts producer and adventure activist, and one of the UK’s leading voices on fertility, family and endurance sport. The Pursuit of Motherhood (2014) and 21 Miles (2018) are under option to Erebus Pictures, adapted by rising star and novelist Anoushka Warden, and being developed for the screen with funding from the British Film Institute.
