Jersey Festival of Words
What an incredible Festival that was!
About Jersey Festival of Words
Jersey Festival of Words is a celebration of the power of storytelling, language, and imagination that brings together authors, poets, performers, and readers for a vibrant programme of events (over half of which are free entry) across the beautiful Channel Island of Jersey.
Set across a variety of local venues our ten-day festival features inspiring talks, lively discussions, creative workshops, and unforgettable performances. We have an extensive schools programme offering free events to the island’s children, offer competitions to encourage local creatives, and work hard with all manner of local stakeholders and agencies to ensure an inclusive festival that can be enjoyed by all the community.
Our ethos has always been three-pronged; to attract top quality authors and performers to Jersey to provide an event that locals and visitors can treasure, to provide an encouraging and celebratory platform for local literary talent, and to foster a love of words and reading in younger generations.
This year (2025) saw us celebrating our tenth birthday as a festival. And what a celebration it was!
For Schools
This year’s schools programme was generously funded by the Roy Overland Trust and offered four author events at the Freedom Centre, along with two events at JCG.
