*** FIRST HEADLINE EVENT FOR 2019 ANNOUNCED ***
Veteran broadcaster and journalist Sir Michael Parkinson will be appearing at the Jersey Festival of Words this September.
An Evening with Sir Michael Parkinson will celebrate the life and career of a man who has interviewed over 2000 of the most important cultural figures of the 20th and 21st centuries.
The event – in which Sir Michael will be interviewed by his son Mike – will show highlights from the Parkinson archive and promises a unique opportunity to get an intimate, entertaining and informative look at Michael’s remarkable journey from a pit village in Yorkshire to the top of those famous stairs, whilst reliving the best moments from a show that for many defined their Saturday night.
Known primarily for his role as an interviewer on Parkinson (which aired from 1971 to 1982 and from 1998 to 2007) Sir Michael is also a prolific journalist and writer, and has recently published a memoir of footballing legend George Best, a paperback copy of which will be included in the event’s ticket price. Tickets are now available from Jersey Opera House.
