Welcome...
...to Jersey Festival of Words. 2024 will be our ninth year promoting a love of the written and spoken word across our community in a variety of styles and settings, while welcoming internationally-renowned authors to our beautiful island.
We are grateful to main Festival corporate sponsor HIGHVERN, with whom we are enjoying a third year and looking forward to working with once more. As with last year we are also supported by funding from the Government of Jersey.

Alongside our regular venues – Jersey Arts Centre, St Helier Library and Jersey Heritage sites, we will be staging events in the newly-renovated Freedom Centre in Bath Street after a fantastic outing there in 2023.

The main aim of our festival remains unchanged; we wish to celebrate the pleasure and power of words in all its forms, with something to include people of all ages and backgrounds. In addition to literary events, our festival includes performance poetry, drama, film, music and visual arts, always with words at its heart.

The preparations for Jersey Festival of Words 2024 are gathering pace ... watch out for some exciting announcements soon!

"I was delighted and honoured to have been made Patron of Jersey Festival of Words in 2019. I fell in love with Jersey the first time I visited in 2016 and always long to come back each year. I love the friendliness of the people, the sense of well-curated history, and I always feel at home. Literary festivals are life-affirming experiences. There is something so cheering about the way local communities work hard to bring authors together for a few days to exchange ideas and information and, above all, to have a good time while talking about books."
