Dr Sian Williams and the Power of Anxiety
Beloved BBC broadcaster and psychologist is to discuss her acclaimed book ‘The Power of Anxiety’ in conversation with Festival Chair Lucy Cotter.
Jersey Festival of Words is delighted to announce that Dr Sian Williams — one of the UK's most celebrated broadcasters and a qualified psychologist — will appear at this year's festival on Saturday 26 September, 2.00–3.00pm at the Freedom Centre. The beloved BBC broadcaster and psychologist is to discuss her acclaimed book in conversation with Festival Chair Lucy Cotter.
Familiar to millions from her many years presenting BBC Breakfast and Radio 4, Dr Williams will join Festival Chair Lucy Cotter for a thoughtful and illuminating conversation about her book The Power of Anxiety. The event will explore how anxiety — a feeling so often viewed as purely negative — can in fact become a source of strength, insight and resilience. Drawing on psychological research and personal experience, Dr Williams’ book examines why anxiety affects so many of us, and how we can better understand and harness it in our everyday lives.
The event is proudly sponsored by Highvern, now in their fifth consecutive year supporting the Festival. Group Executive Chairman Martin Hall said that Dr Williams' work reframed anxiety ‘not as a weakness but as a source of strength’, and that her upcoming event ‘exemplifies the kind of compelling conversation that makes the festival a standout in Jersey's cultural calendar.’
Tickets will be available online from www.jerseyfestivalofwords.org in coming weeks.
