Festival Appoints New Chair

The organisers behind Jersey Festival of Words have announced the appointment of a new Festival chair, following the departure of previous chair Jennifer Bridge MBE.

Broadcast journalist Lucy Cotter, who has previously hosted events at the ten-day literary festival, will now be in charge of leading the event into its ninth year. Ms Cotter, who began her career working on the BBC's Daily Politics Show in 2005, has presented on London Tonight, ITV 2, Sky News and Sky Arts. She was presenter and producer for the channel's first Hay on Sky series alongside Mariella Fostrup, and has reported from major award ceremonies and red carpet events.

Ms Bridge expressed her enthusiasm for Lucy's appointment, stating ‘Lucy is a long-time supporter of the Festival and well-known to the community. She will bring a fresh energy and enthusiasm to the role and is brimming with ideas.’

This year’s Festival will take place between Sept 20th and 29th, featuring a wide range of talks, interviews and performances across a range of island venues including The Freedom Centre and Jersey Library.

‘“It’s a huge honour to be joining the Festival of Words as Chair,’ said Ms Cotter. ‘Jennifer and the team have created a wonderful event and I’m so looking forward to getting involved. Book festivals are very special and hopefully we can encourage even more people to enjoy what we have in store this year.’
