SPRINGTIDE TOUR SPECIAL
A NIGHT OF FOLK ART AND MUSIC
Fresh from a UK tour, this unique fusion of live illustration and folk music arrives at Jersey Festival Of Words. Join Winterfalle and a handpicked lineup of emerging UK alt-folk artists and watch as their lyrics are illustrated live onstage by 2024 Press Award Cartoonist of The Year, Chris Riddell who has wowed concertgoers at shows by Phoebe Bridgers and The National. Expect a mesmerising evening of art, fantasy, heartbreak and hope.
Chris Riddell OBE - the 2015-2017 Children’s Laureate - is an accomplished artist and the political cartoonist for the Observer. His books have won a number of major prizes, including the three CILIP Kate Greenaway Medals and the Costa Children’s Book Award.
Winterfalle is the alt-folk moniker of Jersey songwriter Sam Falle. Sam's songs are contemporary folk tales about local life, history, and culture. From stories of local seafarers in ‘Fisherman’s Friend’ to the inevitability of settling down in your 30's in ‘Ends The Same’, Sam shares intimate reflections on the everyday as life-affirming singalongs.

Also performing on the night will be the multi-talented march (Kitty O’Neal) who recently released her enchanting new single 'I Just I Just I Just Want Them To Know' – and nylon-string newcomer Nick Hilder, playing songs from his debut record, ‘How to Write Love Letters’.
